HOME SCHOOLING for Grades: Kindergarten, 1st, & 3rd - 8th.
Once upon a time, life was "normal” and then the world stopped and changed.
Back in the Spring when I saw a vision of this year, I saw all of us together again...happier, easier times. Now we all are struggling in one way or another!
Back then my "plan B” was to have home study for ALL classes and only the sacrament classes, second grade and ninth grade, attend in very small groups. But continued to pray and hope this virus and the frenzy over it would subside.
Sadly it has not gone away and along with direction from the Diocese, other neighboring parishes and mainly with increasing concern for the safety of our students, volunteers and their families we are going to the Home School Phase.
So, at this time, at least for the Fall, all classes Kindergarten, 1st & 3rd - 8th will receive materials to start their classes at home. 2nd Grade (Communion Year) and 9th/10th Grade (Confirmation Year part 2) will come to class at the time families choose or have already chosen. There will only be about 6 students per class. Safety protocol will be in effect as well.
This environment we are living in is constantly changing and I can't tell you how bad I feel to keep changing our plans but I also hope you understand I have my families and teacher’s utmost safety in mind! I do pray our families with young children will now rally and step up as a Catholic Family and find JOY in working together. I will soon be educated on the new books we are getting that allow parents to log in online, keep in touch with me, and have resources to do Catechism at home as a family with our guidance! THE way it is really meant to be. Families, please continue to register as you would normally. Parishioners please continue to pray for our families.
Parents are the first and best teachers of their children in their faith as in all aspects of family life. We teach by example!! The Religious Education program offered at Holy Redeemer gives support and structure to the formation that happens at home. The "domestic church" ---the home--- provides a real place in which a child can learn to live his/her faith, as well as understand it. Our goal is to help children and families connect their faith with their lived experience, reflecting especially on their personal stories, in the light of the Gospel.
We use a Catechism based program, focusing our learning on the basics of the Catholic Faith, Sacraments, Prayer, Scripture, Catholic Social Teachings, Stewardship of Time and talent, Community and the Bible.
