Communion Ministry grew out of Vatican II's Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. The privilege and responsibility of assisting the priest in the distribution of the Eucharist under the forms of bread and wine is the function of the Minister of Communion.

The men and women who take part in this ministry are sharing in the priesthood of Jesus Christ accorded to all of us by virtue of our Baptism. In addition to assisting at Mass, many Ministers of Communion carry the Eucharist to the homebound and those in area nursing homes and hospitals.
